Based in Fort Wayne (by way of Japan, Brazil, and Hong Kong), Sayaka Ganz is a truly international artist. Not only has she lived and experienced various parts of the world, but her work has been and is exhibited in numerous countries throughout the world.
Her 3D work melds reclaimed plastic and metal objects. I am particularly a fan of her welded metal sculpture. I was fortunate to acquire this horse during at exhibit at Jennifer Ford Art.
At the exhibition, this tiny piece sat on a window sill in contrast to other full size 3D metal and plastic pieces. I love how I can see the life and energy in this horse made from random metal parts!
I am also fortunate to have acquired the print you see below. Sayaka’s BFA was in printmaking, before her MFA in 3D studies.
This city scene carries the combination of abstraction with a hint of realism that for me brings out the feel of the place.
