Entrepreneurship #12 - Independence Is For People
Not Just For Countries
Raise your hand if you have ever been laid off, fired, downsized, or held back from a dream job that you were enormously qualified for.
I have to imagine that most of us raised our hands.
That is why, when I work with high school age people, I characterize operating YOUR OWN business as independence, freedom, and security. Want that dream job? Create it. Want to not put your financial fate in the hands of someone else? Create your own career.
Gone are the days of generous 30-year lifetime employment from one company (followed by a pension). That may have been true in your grandfather’s era, but not today.
Today on July 4th, when independence and freedom (as a country) are on everyone’s mind, ask yourself 5 questions.
Would you like to be in control of your own destiny - or be subject to the whim of someone who could let you go at any time?
Would you like your earnings to leverage what your entire company profits - or be capped to a salary or wage?
Would you like to earn while you sleep - or only when you are “at work”?
Would you like to have multiple streams of earnings (revenue streams) - or put your eggs all in one basket?
Would you like to build generational wealth for your family - or live paycheck to paycheck?
I may be biased, but I say choose freedom through entrepreneurship. Not just for your country, but for you personally.
